Jewish School of Art

The Jewish School of Art is a project by Institut für Neue Soziale Plastik and is comprised of courses by internationally renowned artists such as (amongst others) David Adika, Yael Ronen or Ilit Azoulay. They offer masterclasses or workshops covering a range of different disciplines, for Jewish students and young adults who are critical of antisemitism. The aim is to promote the artistic development of art students, alumni and others interested in art. A further aim is to facilitate new networks in, and perspectives on the art and cultural sector.

From September 4 to 6, 2025, works by 40 students from the second semester of the Jewish School of Art will be presented at Alte Münze. Accompanied by a supporting program, visitors can view the exhibition on three consecutive days, exchange ideas with the artists and obtain information about participating in the third semester.

PROGRAM Thursday, September 4, 2025, 4pm - midnight, opening of the exhibition and party // Friday, September 5, 2025, 4 - 8pm, exhibition // Saturday, September 6, 2025, 2 - 8pm Finissage and 6pm Network meeting for artists, cultural workers and all classes

At a very challenging time for Jewish creative workers and those critical of antisemitism the Jewish School of Art supports their individual creative development. The Jewish School of Art also provides positive impetus to the art world and its institutions to create sustainable structures for the exchange of artistic perspectives and to counteract antisemitic incidents in academic, artistic and institutional contexts. The ‘Artistic Safer Spaces’ of the school enable the exchange of perspectives and creative development. The program culminates in a presentation of the developed projects in a renowned cultural venue in Berlin. An artistic background of the participants is very welcome, but not mandatory. Everyone is free to choose which masterclass they may be interested in.

We accept applications by everyone regardless of their religious or cultural identity or background.

Extension of the masterclasses

Due to the high demand for some classes, we were able to increase the capacity of some courses. We are now accepting applications for the following classes until the 20th of July.

“(On Camera) Acting” with Yousef Sweid in August/ September 2025

“Truth ( And other Stories)” with Nir Evron in September 2025

Further information on the individual classes can be found under Program 2025. Information about the application process can be found under Open Call.
