OPEN CALL Jewish School of Art 2026

The Jewish School of Art is now accepting applications from Jewish and Israeli students and artists as well as non-Jewish individuals critical of antisemitism up to the age of 39. The masterclasses and workshops in various artistic disciplines will be led by internationally renowned artists, including Yasmeen Godder, Mati Shemoelofand Nir Evron. The focus lies on the artistic development of students and alumni of art schools, as well as individuals with a strong interest in contemporary art. The aim is to create new networks critical of antisemitism in the art and culture sector and to open up a wide range of perspectives on the art world and its institutions. The “artistic safe spaces” created at the Jewish School of Art are located within various sites of artistic production in Berlin. Participation in the entire program of the Jewish School of Art is free of charge.
Applicant Profile
The open call is open to Jewish students and young adults who are critical of antisemitism. It is particularly aimed at people who aspire to a career in the arts and alumni of art schools who have been excluded from artistic spaces due to calls for boycott. We also welcome anyone who was involved in artistic or creative groups before October 7, 2023, and is now unable to do so, as well as those who feel a connection to artists and creatives affected and share similar experiences.
What we're offering
As part of the Jewish School of Art, participants have the opportunity to attend masterclasses led by internationally renowned artists. The program covers a wide range of artistic disciplines, including visual arts, literature, and performing arts. Mentors from various disciplines contribute their expertise to support selected participants in developing and implementing their project ideas. The “artistic safe spaces” created at the Jewish School of Art offer a setting for intensive exchange, artistic development, and personal reflection. All courses are offered in English. They take place on individual days as well as in multi-day blocks. Participation in the program is free of charge, but participants are responsible for their own accommodation costs in Berlin and pay a deposit of €50, which will be refunded after successful completion of the course.
