The Institut für Neue Soziale Plastik (Institute for new social sculptures) is made up of Jewish directors, writers, producers and other artists, critical of antisemitism. Since the Institute’s foundation in 2015 we develop artistic projects from Jewish points of view that address Jewish life and heritage, as well as memorial culture and antisemitism. Another focus of our work is consultancy and training for institutions in the arts and culture, independent arts organisations, as well as freelance curators or artists on everything to do with antisemitism.
About the instituteEvent announcements and news from the Institut für Neue Soziale Plastik are usually written in German. If you want to read our news, you have to switch to the German version of our website.
Our focus area
Working on Jewish themes and calling out antisemitism regularly leads to antisemitic reactions – also in the arts and culture. And so, looking at antisemitism in artistic works, structures and institutions has turned into a main focus of our work at Institut für Neue Soziale Plastik.
Further informationWe develop projects from Jewish points of view. In this, we often focus on Jews in the GDR, early Zionism, antisemitism in the arts, and an artistic take on Jewish traditions. Our works include performances, exhibitions and sometimes projects that draw on educational or participatory approaches.
Artistic projectsThe Institute regularly puts out publications and recommendations for policy advancement. All publications are available for download. Against a donation they can also be ordered as print products sent to you by post.
