ART GRANT jüdischer kulturklub ostberlin.

Up to 2500€ for the creation of a new artwork that deals with Contemporary Jewish Post-Soviet/ Post-Shoah narratives.

The INSTITUT FÜR NEUE SOZIALE PLASTIK is looking for artistic contributions from the visual arts that deal with post-Shoah narratives stemming from the (post-)Soviet space of Central and Eastern Europe. We are interested in artistic works from a contemporary Jewish perspective that take (auto)biographical Jewish memory, including oral history, as a starting point. We believe in the arts as a way of questioning the politics of history by remaining unwieldy – and thus providing a source of inspiration in times of instrumentalization of history by authoritarian movements and regimes.

Artistic Medium: multimedia, video works, installation, painting, audio works, or similar.

The aim of the funding is the presentation of the artistic works as part of an installation at the Ex-Jüdisches Waisenhaus Pankow on 17 and 18 November 2025. The work of art must be realized by 7 Nov. 2025. During the scholarship period, consultations will take place with the artistic director (Benno Plassmann) of the project. Participants are selected by the institute’s board members (Benno Plassmann, Stella Leder, Mia Alvizuri Sommerfeld). The budget allocated for each project will range between €100 and €2,500 depending on the number of selected proposals. The stipend includes material costs, artist fee, participation (set up, dismantling) during the exhibition and production of a new work. It is also possible to apply with existing works or to further develop them. A viewing of the exhibition space is possible before the exhibition begins.

If the scholarship is awarded, there will be a legal contract that protects both the sponsor and the artist.

Please submit your proposal with following documents in 1 PDF file until 14 Sept. 25 to curator[at]neue-soziale-plastik[.]org:

-1 A4 page: detailed written project idea
-Up to 3 A4 pages: sketches/ mood board/ mock up
-1 A4 pages: Timebable/ production plan
